એક જ દે ચિનગારી -હરિહર ભટ્ટ

એક જ દે ચિનગારી, મહાનલ !
એક જ દે ચિનગારી.

ચકમક  લોઢું  ઘસતાં ઘસતાં  ખરચી  જિંદગી સારી
જામગરીમાં તણખો ન પડ્યો, ન ફળી મહેનત મારી
                                   મહાનલ... એક દે ચિનગારી...

ચાંદો સળગ્યો, સૂરજ સળગ્યો, સળગી  આભઅટારી
ના સળગી એક સગડી મારી,  વાત  વિપતની ભારી
                                  મહાનલ... એક દે ચિનગારી...

ઠંડીમાં   મુજ   કાયા   થથરે,   ખૂટી    ધીરજ   મારી
વિશ્વાનલ ! હું અધિક ન માગું,  માગું એક ચિનગારી
                                  મહાનલ... એક દે ચિનગારી...

We use to sing this poem every day morning in school as a prayer. Wonderful poem. Harihar Bhatt was a very powerful poet of Gujarati but then a spiritual progress turned his poetry more like prayers..the same is true for Makarand Dave. This is one of my favourite poem.

If we see the definition of literature as per Mahatma Gandhi....any article or poem is literature only if it contributes towards the society by giving soem possitive message.

Depictoion of personal distortions and self emptiness through the medium of words is not literature.

I had this poem in my gujarati text "sahitya Ratna" in 5th grade. It is supposed to be "ek j de chingari" at the end of each couplet if I am not wrong as far as I remember.GREAT JOB .THANKS
